We’re sad to announce that due to lack of interest this year, we’ll be cancelling the Seattle Tug of War. Full refunds will be given out to anyone that has signed up.

We still encourage everyone to donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound, who have been a wonderful partner in putting this event together and remain an amazing force in bettering our community.

We thank everyone for all of there interest and enthusiasm in the event and hope to be able to run it at some point in the future.

It’s Recess is excited to announce Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound (BBBSPS) as the exclusive benefactor of this summer’s Seattle Tug of War.

BBBSPS brings adult mentoring to underserved youth in the Puget Sound region. It is the largest mentoring organization in Washington State, and works to make help children build the attitudes and behaviors needed to stay in school, succeed academically, make healthy choices, and create promising futures.

As the official benefactor of Seattle Tug of War, not only will a portion of participation fees go to BBBSPS, but tuggers will have the opportunity to support the organization directly through our, soon to be released, online donation system. BBBSPS will also be tabling at the event for those interested in signing up as a mentor or learning more.

It’s time and you can feel it. Math has been soaking into your brain for what seems like an eternity. Your body is glowing with energy in anticipation. Finally, the period bell rings and Mrs. Burton tells everyone to get their shoes and jackets on. You rush out of your seat and put out your jacket and shoes, there’s no time to tie them, so you let you laces dangle as you sprint past the other kids out the door. You know the way to the outside, the path or freedom if only for a short time. With blue skies in site, you push open that heavy door and feel that cool breeze brush through your hair as you close your eyes, temporarily blinded by the sun. Yes, it is time. It is recess.

It’s Recess is about reclaiming those moments of childhood where play and fun were the most important, most treasured things in the world. Our events recreate those good old fashioned playground games that you remember as a kid.
